Charles Zamora

Charles Zamora studied political science at the University of Texas and law at the University of Akron, where he was a member of the Akron Law Review and published Note, Wiggins v. State: Receiving a Fair Trial Under the Specter of AIDS. 23 Akron L. Rev. 308 (1989).

Beginning his legal career as an Assistant Ohio Attorney General, Chuck represented the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services in defense litigation before the Unemployment Compensation Review Commission, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and the State Personnel Board of Review. He represented OBES at all state court levels in Ohio, as well as the U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals.

From 1993 to 1995, Chuck worked in the Workers' Compensation Section of the Ohio Attorney General's Office, where he represented the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and the Industrial Commission of Ohio. Chuck was responsible for defending the BWC and Industrial Commission in hundreds of ongoing lawsuits in the Courts of Common Pleas, Courts of Appeals of Ohio, and the Supreme Court of Ohio.

Chuck left the Attorney General's Office and began private practice in 1995 with the law office of Dean G. Reinhard Co., L.P.A., primarily representing the interests of injured workers and the dependents of deceased workers. He last worked at the German Village location of Reinhard, Zamora & Bates Co., L.P.A., where he was an equity partner. Chuck opened the law firm currently known as Charles Zamora Co., L.P.A. on June 1, 2003.

In 1999, Chuck was among the first 144 attorneys in the State of Ohio to become a "Certified Specialist" by the Ohio State Bar Association. Workers' Compensation Law was the first field from which attorneys could apply to become Certified Specialists. To become certified, candidates were required to demonstrate substantial involvement in the practice area, fulfill additional educational requirements, submit to a peer evaluation process, and pass a written exam. Recertification is required every four (4) years. Chuck was recertified in 2003, 2007, and 2011.

Chuck has been selected for inclusion in "Super Lawyers" 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Only five percent (5%) of the total lawyers in the State of Ohio are selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers.

Chuck is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Ohio Association for Justice, and the State Bar of Texas. He is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Texas. He is also admitted to practice law in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Ohio, Northern District of Ohio, Southern District of Texas, U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit (Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky & Tennessee), and the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Chuck has also attained accreditation to practice law before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and represents veterans in the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims before the VA.

Chuck is a friend of the Fraternal Order of Police, Capital City Lodge #9, a supporter of the City of Columbus Police Softball League, the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio, Inc., and the Fraternal Order of Police Foundation. Chuck is the brother of former Lieutenants Harry Zamora and Manuel F. Zamora, Ph.D. (both of the Houston Police Department) and Deputy Constable Albert J. Zamora of Precinct 6, Harris County, Texas. Dr. Manuel F. Zamora left HPD in 2011 to become an Assistant Professor of Border Security and Criminal Justice at Angelo State University. Harry Zamora left HPD in 2012 and is currently running for the elective office of the Harris County Constable, Precinct 2. Chuck is married to Julie and has a daughter and two step-daughters.
